We would:

Meet with you a number of times to help define, understand and document your short and long-term objectives.
Meet with several of your staff to gain an understanding of the relevant business processes, existing IT systems, and the underlying data.
Work with relevant staff in your organisation or design company to develop a specification of the required appearance of the site: layout, colours, fonts, graphics, etc.
Progressively develop, document, and present system specifications including the visual design, a data model, database design, transaction designs, and development plan.
Implement the database and develop the Web pages including all the computer programs necessary to interact with the users of the Web site and its database.
Test the system from several points of view: functional, performance, security, integrity.
Write full system documentation and online help screens.
Cut over the Web site into live production status.
Create appropriate content, including search keywords, in the hidden header fields on your web pages to optimise their positioning in search engine results, and register your web site with the some of the main search engines such as Yahoo and Google.

Our change for this type of project would be from $30,000 with $500 per month for ongoing hosting and basic support.
